August 2016: Seven Sharp Interview

New Lives Animal Rescue featured on Seven Sharp regarding the case of the four neglected horses that we took into our care in late July. Watch the interview here
August 2016: Horse Rescue Waikato Times article

Article from the Waikato Times. We have had some amazing support, however we feel that we need to defend our decision to speak with the owner and offer help which resulted in the 4 horses being signed over to New Lives Rescue and getting the care they desperately needed.

We stand by our decision 100% where we had all four horses signed over to our organisation. We do not believe that a prosecution was ever on the cards as SPCA has stated they were educating the owner, we strongly feel this situation was beyond education. We do not believe we compromised any "further investigation". The horses welfare was always our top priority and we only acted after we were advised that the SPCA had been to the property.

The owner has also contacted us and asked for her horses back and said we could contact the SPCA as they have been very supportive and will help her care for them and support her. The horses will remain in our care until they are well enough to be adopted.

DECEMBER 2015: "PETstock & NLAR Kitten Adoptions"

New Lives Animal Rescue kittens now adopted via PETstock Cambridge!

In the past we have found it difficult re-homing kittens from foster homes and so this has limited the number of kittens that we have been able to take into care. To have a "base" for our kittens so people can view and adopt from is great. This means we can help more animals.

All kittens will still be New Lives kittens until adopted and the usual process including adoption contracts still apply. PETstock only have rescue animals and make no money on these kittens. Mel and her team have been amazing and we look forward to a long relationship with PETstock.

Kittens will still be in foster homes until ready for desexing and re-homing.

All kittens will be desexed, first vaccination, micro chipped which is registered on NZ Companion Animal Register, are up to date with flea and worm and receive 30 days free pet insurance. An adoption fee of $149 unless otherwise stated is required when adopting a cat or kitten from New Lives Animal Rescue.

Any cats that can't be based at PETstock Cambridge for re-homing will be listed on the available animals section below.

PETstock is located at: 63 Shakespeare Street, Cambridge. Phone 07 823 5651.

NOVEMBER 2015: "Where do your donations go?"

To all of our valued supporters who donate money (for food, veterinary treatment etc) to New Lives Animal Rescue, to those who donate food for our animals, toys and bedding for our animals, to our supporters who donate goods for us to sell at our Op Shop, and to those who come along and support our raffles and BBQ's... Below is an example of how your generous donations directly help our animals.

Pictured below are our Catahoula/Staffy/Greyhound puppies that came into our care during the month of November 2015, they were all suffering from mange and were extremely thin. After just a few weeks in their dedicated foster homes, where they are receiving all the TLC young puppies could ask for and receiving treatment for their mange, they have all gained weight, their fur has just about all grown back and their personalities have melted the hearts of everyone they meet. (the top pictures show each puppies condition in mid November- and the below pictures show how they are looking today)

Exciting news as Layla and Gaby now have property checks pending, Merlin has a family coming to meet him in the coming week, and little Lexi is still waiting to find her new family.

We rely solely on the generous donations from the public, therefore on behalf of all the team and all of the animals here (including Merlin, Gaby, Lexi and Layla) at New Lives Animal Rescue, we thank you for your continued and cherished suppo
rt.

OCTOBER 2015: "New Lives Animal Rescue turns 1 Year Old!"

New Lives Animal Rescue turns 1 year old this month (where has the last year gone?!)

It's been an incredible, exciting and sometimes exhausting 12 months (but we definitely aren't complaining!)

In just 12 months we have:

• Re-homed over 270 animals, these include cats, kittens, dogs, puppies and goats!
• Gained Registered Charity status
• Opened our very own Op Shop (390 Grey Street, Hamilton East)
• Launched the New Lives Animal Rescue Horse Division
• Began our exciting new Education Program

We would like to thank:

•Our amazing and dedicated foster homes, without these we simply would not be able to rescue and rehome our gorgeous animals
• Our fantastic team of volunteers who selflessly offer their time and skills at our Op Shop, Fundraising events and many more behind the scenes daily jobs/activities that help keep New Lives running effectively and as smoothly as possible!
• Our supporters- to those who donate items to our Op Shop and money to our accounts, those who follow our work, those who share our stories and appeals and to those who offer words of encouragement.
• Our Sponsors, including; VE Veterinary services, Te Awamutu, Hamilton Veterinary Services, Cambridge News, Hamilton News, Nanny Goat Soaps, Metro Paws.(plus many, many more)
• The families who have opened their hearts and homes and have chosen to adopt an animal from New Lives Animal Rescue.

On behalf of all the animals and team here at New Lives Animal Rescue, we thank everyone who has joined us on our journey so far! With summer and Christmas just around the corner, it’s all hands on deck at the moment! We are currently preparing for Equidays, Pooch Racing and many more exciting plans that we have up our sleeves for the next 12 months!
